Optimized emptying processes thanks to innovative filling level sensors

As one of Europe's leading textile recycling companies, TEXAID is continually optimizing its working processes and quality standards, and guarantees ecologically sustainable and high-quality collection, sorting and recycling of used textiles.

To this end, in both Switzerland and Germany TEXAID has successfully tested filling level sensors for its used textile containers and has integrated them into the logistics software.

The sensors continually monitor the filling level and send this data to the Logistics Center. When they indicate that a container is full, the TEXAID tour system automatically plans for the relevant containers to be emptied in the next tour, without either user intervention or delays.

Using this innovative and sector-leading technology optimizes needs-based emptying, avoids empty runs in the process, and finally reduces CO2 consumption and thereby preserves both valuable resources and the environment.

The TEXAID container network will be selectively fitted with these sensors by fall 2016.  Side valleys in Switzerland and rural areas in Germany in particular are earmarked for this. This is where TEXAID currently sees the greatest benefits for resource-friendly collection.
