T-shirts in recycled cotton from used textiles

The international childrenswear brand Okaïdi has joined forces with the Center of applied research and innovation (CETI) to develop its first collection of t-shirts made from recycled cotton. TEXAID has provided the used textiles for recycling.

During three years the research institute CETI worked on a prototype. From September 15th, the first t-shirt collection for boys and girls will be available in Okaïdi boutiques in France and at www.okaidi.fr. The t-shirts are made of 60% recycled cotton from used textiles and 40% virgin cotton fibers from organic farming. TEXAID has collected and sorted the used cotton textiles accordingly and prepared them for further processing. For this purpose, zippers, buttons and other accessories, had to be removed manually.
