Exportation and responsibility The worldwide demand for high-quality, sustain- able second-hand clothing has skyrocketed in re- cent years. The following factors help make sense of the cause: In African countries, second-hand goods from Europe are an attractive alternative to synthetic-fiber textiles from Asia. In Eastern Europe, the opening of the markets has led to an increased demand for fashionable, high-quality clothing so that demand continues to rise here as well. In the countries that we do business in, the pro- cessing and trade of used textiles is an important industry that creates thousands of new jobs 28
