© blend Re:wind RESEARCH & COLLABORATION AS DRIVING FORCES OF INNOVATION With partnerships along the entire textile value chain, TEXAID is an active supporter of the circular economy. The Group employs project coordinators for research and recycling, quality, environmental and risk management as well as for various social engagement projects with associations. TEXAID works with textile companies, universities and associations on a variety of research and devel- opment projects. These projects are aimed at optimizing recycling capabilities by using technology to identify the material composition and fiber separation qualities of textiles, improving chemical and mechanical recycling processes and developing marketable upcycled goods. TEXAID seeks to introduce premium processed used textiles into a closed-loop recycling system. “ TEXAID works hard at developing new textile recy- cling processes which will allow for old clothes to be reused in the best possible manner in the future.” (Martin Böschen, TEXAID CEO) 49
