In Germany, every industrial accident is formally recorded. If an employee is sick for more than three days in a row, an official accident report must be submitted to the relevant workmen’s compensation board. These boards have the right to investigate the accident at the site of the employee’s work. The workmen’s compensation board also verifies whether certain causes of accidents have been elimina- ted. Industrial accidents that do not require reporting are nevertheless disclosed to the occupational safety committee (ASA), who analyzes each particular accident and eliminates possible causes.
